Who we are?
We are the Bhutanese living in Nebraska who were once evicted by the Government of Bhutan to the eastern part of the Nepal back in 1990-1993. There were seven Nepali speaking Bhutanese Refugee Camps. Those Refugee Camps were 1. Khudunabari, Timai, Goldhap, Sanichare, Beldagi I, II, & III. There were more than 108,000 Nepali Speaking Bhutanese refugees in the camps. After a long waiting of repartiation back to Bhutan, Bhutanese refgees were tired of waiting for the better future. At the end, we decied for third country resettlement. Since 2008, Bhutanese refugees of all the seven camps were scattered to to 8 different counties. Nebraska has more than 3500 Nepali Speaking Bhutanese refugees and a few Drukpa who are directly from Bhutan who are not refugees.
